Smart Audio-Video devices primarily allow the simplication of controling your home entertainment experience by allowing you total ease of control of all of your media and devices through voice, and touch wherever you are in your home.

The Alexa Voice Service (AVS) is Amazon’s intelligent voice recognition and natural language understanding service that allows you to voice-enable any connected device that has a microphone and speaker. Alexa also has the ability to set up “routines” with you, where a single command that you set — say, “Alexa, good night,” — shuts off the lights, locks your front door, sets an alarm for a time you set, and sets your coffee pot to turn on at a certain time.

Through Siri voice commands and via the Home app in iOS, you can control smart home devices that are compatible with Apple’s HomeKit software. HomeKit hub allows you to remotely control connected devices and run automations when your iPhone or iPad isn’t present. To serve as the hub, you can use an Apple TV, an iPad, or a HomePod that you leave—powered on and connected to the internet—in your home.

Google Home is a powerful speaker and voice Assistant. With it, you can shuffle your favorite playlist, dim your lights with just your voice, or ask your Assistant on Google Home to stream Netflix to your TV with Chromecast.
